Uncertainty Remains Over Fawdon Community Centre

Cllr Peter Lovatt recently met with the Cabinet Member for Communities to discuss the current situation at Fawdon Community Centre. Earlier this year, NCAT handed the building back to the Council after it folded at the beginning of June 2025. Since then, the Council has been running the building on a temporary basis.
Local tenants and users are understandably anxious about what happens next. At the meeting, the Cabinet Member had no further updates but will be organising a follow-up meeting at the beginning of October, which was disappointing for those hoping for more clarity.
The Newcastle City Council Communities Cabinet Member has been asked for a meeting to discuss the current state of the Community Centre and any proposals for its future. However, this meeting will not take place until the beginning of September.
As a community, we want reassurance that there is a plan in place to ensure continuity now that NCAT has ceased operations. Cllr Lovatt and local representatives will continue to push for answers and will keep the community updated on any progress.
