On this day, at this hour in 1944 : Young Brits were dying on the beaches of Normandy to start to create peace in Europe which has lasted for 73 years.

We learnt the folly of fighting amongst ourselves, putting aside war war for jaw jaw. The EU is a price well worth paying to ensure that my sons and grandsons don't have to try to kill young Germans, Frenchmen or Italians and they don't have to try to kill them....(Maths alert : 71 year 1945-2016....)
