Newcastle Liberal Democrats Leader responds to Newcastle United takeover

Councillor Nick Cott, Leader of the Liberal Democrats Group and Leader of the Opposition on Newcastle City Council said:
'We are pleased that the issue of the Newcastle takeover is now resolved, after a long period of uncertainty for long-suffering fans.
"We recognise that the Premier League has received legally-binding assurances that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will not control the club.
"Newcastle United is at the beating heart of our City and its importance cannot be understated. We welcome the promised investment in the club and wider City by the consortium. When Newcastle United is successful the whole of Newcastle benefits."
