NEW SCHEME LAUNCHED TO HELP RESIDENTS STAY IN THEIR HOMES

31 Jul 2008

A new scheme has started in Newcastle to help the elderly and disabled stay in their homes.

Anchor is offering a range of services, including recommending tradesmen to carry out repairs and help and advice.

The organisation also runs its own small repairs service for jobs like fitting a plug, hanging a curtain rail or fixing a tap.

Councillor Ian Graham says: "This service will be of great help to older people and the disabled who want those little jobs around the house done by reputable tradesmen.

"In addition Anchor's small repairs service offers free quotes and only charges £5 per hour plus the cost of any parts for the work it carries out."
