Improving Local Safety

Work is continuing to install metal fencing around the fronts of the mid-rise flats in the Leazes area of Newburn ward. Fortunately YHN have been able to extend their original plans and include more residences in the programme thanks to some match funding provided by the Newburn Ward Committee.

Chair of the Ward Committee, Councillor Mike Lynch, welcomes the extension and says that the scheme is providing improvements to the security and look of the area for the benefit of local residents. Mike adds that it is a measure that has long been neglected and he is glad that the Ward Committee has been able to help make it happen now.
