CARE SERVICES AMONG THE BEST IN THE COUNTRY

Newcastle's adult care services are among the best in the country, according to independent inspectors.
The annual inspection of Adult Services by the Commission for Social Care Inspection rated the council's services as "excellent" - making them a top-rated three star service.
Inspectors found services in four of seven assessed areas - including quality of life, health and increased choice and control - to be of the highest possible standard, as well as stating that services have a "promising" potential to improve even further.
Fenham Ward Campaigner Mitzi Emery says: "This reports shows what many people have known for a long time - that the staff who work within the council's Adult Services department do a great job, day in, day out."
