Jude Browne for South Jesmond

Jude Browne, the Liberal Democrats candidate for South Jesmond in the City Council by election on Thursday 14 August was joined by activists from across the region at the start of her campaign.
The election comes after a sitting Labour councillor for the ward resigned little more than a year after being elected. The resignation increases Labour's problems in Newcastle following where they have now lost their overall majority in the Council Chamber after several councillors decided to sit as Independents.
The Lib Dems are the clear challenges to Labour in the ward and a close result is expected on 14 August.
