You can also raise your query in person at our monthly surgery. This takes place at Walkergate Primary School from 11:00am until 12:00 noon, on the first Saturday of every month apart from August and Bank Holidays.

The axe today fell on nine of Newcastle's Post Offices despite hard-fought campaigns by local residents to keep them open.

Walkergate Liberal Democrat councillors have expressed their shock today that Go North East are sending buses past a busy primary school. They are concerned about the dangers to children arising from this decision.

The FOCUS team are helping to reduce anti-social behaviour in the Walkergate ward. Over the past few months we have worked with the police, wardens and council workers to tackle problems at the Trojan Avenue playing fields, near Walkerville Library, parts of Daisy Hill and parts of Eastfield Estate. Councillor Dave Besag said "The FOCUS team are actively working with the police, council officers and Your Homes Newcastle to solve problems across the ward."

Mon 24th Mar 2008:

Eastfield Action Group and East End Juniors Football Club are planning a family fun day on Swan's Field in July. Your ward councillors are supporting the scheme with a £2,000 grant. A successful fun day was held on the field two years ago and hopefully its successor will be even better.

Walkergate ward councillors are continuing their consultation over the open space between Fossway, Westbourne Avenue and Ennerdale Road. Surveys have been sent out across the ward over the last couple of months. So far the response rate has exceeded expectations with many interesting and constructive replies.

Lib Dem councillors have agreed plans to improve the Council's household recycling service over the coming year.

Tue 20th Dec 2005:

A daily drop-in centre has now opened at Walkerville Community Association in Pinewood Close. The centre is open, Monday to Friday from 9 until 1, to all residents across Walkergate. It offers computer and digital camera classes, Internet access and a stock of 200 library books for loan that are changed on a monthly basis. It is also a friendly place to call in to meet friends and catch up on local news.
