CALLERTON NEEDS BETTER BUSES

6.24.00pm GMT Fri 8th Jan 2010

Residents in Callerton deserve better bus services.

The village is served by just one two hourly bus and even that doesn't run in the evening or on Sunday.

Now local Lib Dems have taken up the cause.

James Kenyon and Ron Beadle have met with local residents to discuss bus services to the village.

Lib Dem councillors from the outer west of Newcastle have put proposals for change to Nexus.

James Kenyon said: "There is real frustration over poor bus services and the Link Up service, which local people find difficult to book.

"The Lib Dems are proposing that Link Up be used to provide a regular service to Callerton and other villages in the outer west that aren't well served by conventional buses.

"Our councillors have met with Nexus, who are looking at the future of Link Up and we will keep residents in touch with what happens through Focus."
