FIGHT TO STOP DEVELOPMENT

10.23.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 31st Jul 2008

The Lib Dem Focus Team has teamed up with local residents to fight plans to build a residential home on Brookside House.

Councillors Ian Graham and Ian Laverick have formally objected to the planning application.

Developers want to build a 40-bed residential home on the site in Brookside Avenue and have submitted plans to the city council's Development Control Committee for consideration.

Councillor Ian Laverick says: "A lot of local residents have already objected to the scheme.

"When the application is heard by the Development Control Committee we will be speaking up on behalf of local people to oppose the plans.

"If residents have not already objected they can contact the council's planning department on 232 8520."
